The Little Acorn Project
From tiny acorns mighty oaks do grow
For every garden we create, we plant seeds of change in a local school through The Little Acorn Project.
We believe that connecting children with nature isn't just important – it's essential. Getting their hands in soil, planting a seed, and watching that seed grow, can give kids a greater understanding of the natural world and their connection to it. They learn patience, responsibility, and the simple truth that small actions can help build something bigger.
Here's how it works: the plant pots from your garden project get a second life in a local classroom. We bring in acorns, compost, the pots pots and run mindful gardening workshops, teaching the children a unique mindfulness method called ACORN as they plant out their trees to be.
Over the weeks and months that follow, children nurture their acorns, watching them sprout and grow into saplings which can be planted at home, in the school grounds, or in community spaces, creating a lasting legacy.
But this isn't just about growing trees – it's also about growing awareness, not just of the importance of the natural world, but for the children a growing awareness of themselves and their connection to it
Therefore every garden we build helps cultivate the next generation of nature lovers. Because if we want a greener future, we need to plant those seeds today – in the ground and in young minds.
